I'm Lars Staring, founder of Sync.up Consultancy. With over 20 years of experience working in and alongside international NGOs, Red Cross National Societies, foundations, and UN agencies, I've seen first-hand why so many fundraising programmes stall — not from lack of ambition, but from a lack of structured diagnosis. That gap is what the Fundraising Maturity Assessment was built to close.

My approach is hands-on, creative, and built on the belief that when the right people come together with a shared vision, they can create real, lasting impact.

Why I built this tool

After two decades working with NGOs, Red Cross societies, and foundations across four continents, I kept seeing the same pattern: talented fundraising teams working hard, but without a clear picture of where their programme actually stood.

Strategy reviews were expensive and slow. Internal assessments were subjective. And the gap between what organisations thought their fundraising looked like and what it actually looked like was often significant.

The Fundraising Maturity Assessment was built to close that gap. It is the only diagnostic tool that covers all major fundraising streams — corporate, individual giving, face-to-face, major gifts, community, institutional, emergency response, and branch networks — in a single structured assessment.
